Hello and thanks for viewing my profile! My name is Frida, and I'm a young Swedish expat with an undying passion for all things creative. I've been acting since I could talk, and long before I even knew what I was doing. Even at the mere age of 2 I would dress up and pretend to be someone else; usually Pippi Longstocking or Jasmine from Aladdin, my earliest childhood heroes. At the age of 6 I joined the local church choir, and performed with them every Sunday. It was during one of these performances that I realised what acting was, and that I had a talent for it.
After that first "epiphany" I participated in every school play, and drama lessons quickly became the highlight of the week. In my spare time I continued to play role playing games with my friends, and eventually my sister. When, at 13, I wanted desperately to fit in and be cool, I decided that acting was for geeks. My secret desire to join the drama club were kept very secret indeed. I did however, continue to practice at home. A few years later however, I got over the "trying to be cool phase" and just accepted the fact that I would never be anything but a "nerdy" thespian at heart. I started taking acting lessons again and I loved it. "I can tell you've done this a lot!" My teacher used to tell me, which of course made me feel very proud and secretly a little smug - because I hadn't done any actual performing for years. Still, I knew exactly what to do. Everything academic I always struggled with, but acting I could do. Without anyone ever really teaching me how.
A few years later I moved to Stockholm to attend University. Of course, life in the Swedish capital also inspired me to pursue acting. In my spare time, I took acting lessons at Calle Flygare teaterskola, one of the most famous performing arts academies in Sweden. I also appeared as an extra in low budget feature films. In February 2014 I auditioned for a fringe production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, and got cast as Hippolyta and the Fairy (there was only one!). We rehearsed all spring and performed 6 shows at different outdoor venues in central Stockholm, all with good attendance. 300 people showed up on opening night, which for an amateur production in Sweden is really quite good!
Around the same time I quit my University course, because I no longer felt motivated to continue. The truth is, I never particularly wanted to do it in the first place. My passion is, and has always been, acting. I bitterly regret letting my parents talk me out of auditioning for Drama school, but there's no point dwelling on the past! In October I moved to London, something I have always wanted. And here I am now. I work part-time at the Lyceum Theatre and it just covers my rent. I apply for every acting job I can find in the hopes of gaining experience and potential showreel material. I'm determined to fulfil my dream of one day becoming a professional stage and screen actor, and I'll never stop fighting for it. -
I sang in choirs as a child (from the age of 6 to about 12) which taught me a lot about performing in front of an audience, and of course about singing too! Although I don't currently take any lessons, I frequently burst into song and spend some time every day just teaching myself different techniques. I think I have a lot of potential when it comes to singing, and have been told so by other people as well. Mezzo-soprano. Able to belt to some extent (this is one of the things I'm working on!)
